Today’s Devotional
In this teaching, we learned that Christ is our peace. Peace can seem out of reach when we think our circumstances must change before we can experience peace. How can shifting my focus from what has happened to me, to seeing my situation from my God-given identity in Christ, help me to let go of my anger?
Discouragement is the gap between our current situation and our expectations. When we find ourselves discouraged, we can open our hearts to God and his perfect timing in any situation.
Trying to navigate life on our own is exhausting and ineffective because there are too many variables that only God knows.
Reflect & Pray
- Would shifting my focus from what has happened to me, to seeing my situation from my God-given identity in Christ, help me to let go of my anger?
- What is one situation where I could change my expectation to consider God’s possibilities?
- Based on what I just read, how can I better understand how to include God in my expectations so that my emotions are not controlled or conditioned by my circumstance?
Heavenly Father, the work Your Son is my peace. Help me to release my anger and discouragement to You. Teach me to wait upon You and trust Your perfect timing. Let my expectations rest in You alone.
Today’s Insights
Psalm 62:5 reminds us that our expectation is from God alone. When we anchor our hopes in circumstances or other people, we set ourselves up for disappointment. But when our soul waits only upon God, we find a peace that transcends our situation. Christ is our peace through His faith, not because He removes our problems, but because we allow the transformation of glory (2 Corinthians 3:18) to change our perspective.
