Understanding Boldness in the Day of Judgment
Please turn to First John. We're going to talk about boldness in the day of judgment, and why this is so significant is because this is man's day. Man does the judging. Let's not be fooled about that. Man does the judging. They judge everything. They judge your looks, they judge the way that you speak, your bank account, the clothes you wear, everything, but don't fall prey to those judgments.
We are to be bold in the day of judgment, and you'll see how love ties into this so beautifully, and that boldness is the exact response we need to have in our day and time because accusations fly all over the place, and you can't let those accusations settle in your heart. In any way direct your heart. You can deal with them, but do not let them direct or guide your heart because they're not from God. They are not from God. That's right. First John chapter 4 verse 15, whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God.
This is not talking about the new birth. This is not talking about the new birth. This doesn't say confess Jesus as Lord and believe. This is talking about saying what the word says. Confess is homilogal, and it says that Jesus is, in the present tense, the Chios of God. He is the Son of God, and we should confess that every day in some form that he's the Son of God because that's how we identify with God because we are sons through what Jesus Christ accomplished. It says that Jesus is the Son of God, and the text is the God.
The Biblical Foundation
The article is right before God. It's the God. There's only one. God dwelleth in him in the present, meaning in our walk experientially because he's in you in Christ, but he dwells in your walk and he in God, and we have known that word known is experientially, and it's action in the past that is completed or impacted in the present, and we have known, we have experienced and believed. Same thing. We believed at one point, and it's still impacting us today. That the love that God have to us, how did God express that love? Jesus Christ.
There's no greater way to express his love than through what Jesus Christ accomplished. God is love, and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God and God in him. There is no escaping our identity with Christ. There's no escaping it. In fact, we should embrace it with everything that we are because it is the purest expression of his love for us that he would make us his sons because we didn't walk perfectly. He just gave it to us because we accepted Jesus Christ. Watch how significant this is. Herein is our love made perfect. Well, what does that mean?
Herein is our love made perfect. It means love is made mature through experiencing that love. It's not intellectualizing it. It's experiencing it. Herein is our love made perfect. Mature love is love that is experientially known. You know him, and look at the context in the day of judgment. That's man's day because as he is, so are we in this world. We ought to be so bold. Now again, I don't mean abrasive. I just mean bold. Whenever accusations are flying, we should be bold. Whenever accusation and condemnation and judgment is being leveled on you, you should be bold.
Examples and Spiritual Lessons
That's the response, and it doesn't mean that you have to go out and confront the entire world. That's not what I'm saying. I'm just saying in the day of judgment, be bold. You are a son of God. How would you act if you were a son of God and God backed you? How would you act? That's how you should act. This stuff is unbelievable because as he is, so are we in this world. Jesus Christ isn't backing down from anything. He's seated at the right hand of the throne of God.
There is no fear in love, but perfect, mature, experiential love casteth out fear because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect or mature in love. What gets people afraid is accusation. What gets people afraid is intimidation. What gets people afraid is judgment, that somehow you don't line up. You don't have to worry about it because God is on your side, and that's the way that we should be because whether or not you go out into the world, the world moves on accusation. That's what devil means, by the way, diabolos, the accuser. He throws fiery darts.
Look at Mark chapter 8, please. I'll tell you what I would recommend, and you decide what you would like to do. I would recommend that every problem that you're dealing with right now, whatever challenge you've got, take a moment, speak to it. In other words, say the words. Let's say, I need a job. Say the words, I have my job. That job is mine. Say those words. Say them. That's what I would recommend. That's boldness. See, what people do is they wait to speak something, and then see if it materializes. They wait for it to materialize, and then they speak.
Faith in Action
They don't understand. Speak it out. Speak it out as many times a day as you want to. Just speak it forth. Mark chapter 8, verse 31, And he, Jesus, began to teach them that the Son of Man must suffer many things, and be rejected of the elders and of the chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again. And he, Jesus, spake that saying boldly, openly, boldly. And Peter took him and began to rebuke him.
And when he had turned about, 180 degree, and looked on his disciples, he rebuked Peter, saying, Get thee behind me, Satan, for thou savest not the things that be of God, but the things that be of men. That's right. He loved Peter, but he was not going to put up with that. He spoke boldly what God wanted him to speak. Look at John 7. Please, John 7, with so many accusations and judgments flying all over the place. Don't allow it to get into your heart. Speak the word to it. Move it out.
John 7, verse 12, And there was much murmuring among the people concerning him, Jesus. For some said, He is a good man. Others said, Nay, but he deceived the people. None of those is true. He wasn't a good man. He was the Son of God. And he wasn't deceiving the people either. Both were wrong. It's just people's opinion. I tell you, you've got to watch the TV and you've got to watch the internet and people's doggone opinions. They're worth about as much as a leaf that has fallen off a tree and has decayed on the ground.
Walking in Love and Confidence
Or it's worth as much as the gum on the bottom of your shoe. Some of these opinions, you don't listen to them. How be it no man spake openly or boldly of him for fear of the Judeans? They wouldn't speak of Jesus Christ because they were afraid. Well, we each have to deal with our own challenges at times.
But I'm telling you, when accusations fly and judgment that's all around us, the systems of the world, especially here in the United States, well, I'd say all over the world, are designed to break us down, to make us succumb to the judgment of anything other than God. When God's judgment's already passed in Christ Jesus. And you can't allow that terminology and that stuff to get in your head. You'll never think clearly on the word. Look at Acts 4. Acts 4. In verse 13, here's what the John. They saw the boldness. It wasn't their personality. Boldness is not personality.
You and I have known people that are very soft-spoken, but yet you can't move them for anything. See, we can't allow ourselves to slip into victim mentality. Be bold. That's what the knowledge of the hope will do for us. Because we already know what the end is. That's why we can be bold. Because of what Jesus Christ accomplished. It lives within us. We experientially walk his accomplished work. We live his accomplished work. And perceive that they were unlearned and ignorant men. So they didn't have the proper school. They marveled.
Applying the Teaching in Daily Life
And they took knowledge of them that they had been with Jesus. Oh yeah. Verse 29. So they go back to their compadres and they pray a prayer. Verse 29. And now Lord behold their what? Threatenings. Accusation. Judgment. Don't let people define you. Who you are. You're a son of the living God. That's what the word says. It says, and grant unto thy servants, which is the Greek word doulos, that with all boldness they may speak thy word. Verse 31. And when they had prayed, the place was shaken. They were stirred to action.
Where they assembled together and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit. And they spake the word of God with boldness. Now you can read the rest of the chapter. It doesn't say that there's a huge increase. It doesn't say that the boldness was to new people. It doesn't say it. Now I'm not saying that that's not what's happening. It just doesn't say that. If the boldness isn't amongst ourselves, then we're missing the boat. Again, I'm not saying that you have to ramp up your personality. That's not what I'm saying, right? I'm just saying you're bold.
Why do we think we have to swallow what the world is giving us? We don't. Bold. Fearless. That's exactly what happened. Look at how the book of Acts closes. If this isn't a lesson, I don't know. The book of Acts closes at Acts 28 in verse 31. It says, preaching the kingdom of God. That means God's sovereignty over all time. There isn't anything that is not under him. He is God. Period. And you can say that any day of the week, and you can say it to any person you want to that walks this earth. You can say that.
A Life Shaped by God’s Word
God is sovereign over everything. And teaching those things which concern the Lord Jesus Christ with all confidence. And the word confidence is the word boldness. No man forbidding. Tremendous. That's how it ends. Let's close in Ephesians 6. You know, part of why I wanted to handle this or bring this up is because we just did a tremendous event. And don't think that the adversary isn't after people or goes after them. Tries to break you down mentally. Tries to dilute what happened. Or maybe your input or involvement or something. He moves right in with his condemnation, his judgment.
And this is when we should be more bold. And this is a great heart prayer in Ephesians 6, verse 19. And for me that utterance may be given unto me that I may open my mouth sheepishly. You know it's not right. Boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel. And part of the mystery of the gospel is the return of Christ. Part of it. New bodies, rewards, all of it. So my encouragement to you is to have boldness in the day of judgment. And don't allow the adversary to corner you with accusations, intimidation, and judgment.
You speak right to it in the name of Jesus Christ. And don't put up with it. Not even for a second. And if you need help, sound out. One of us is going to help. One of us is going to jump in with both feet with our justification in Christ Jesus and encourage you.
